A Couple New Fluffles Stamps

Remember how I told you that my neighbor came over an bought 14 of my cards the other day?  Well, with the money she gave me I 'invested' in more stamps, lol.  I say invested, because who knows, maybe she'll come over and want to buy more cards (fingers crossed).  The stamps I bought were some new "Fluffles" stamps, and they are so completely cute.  I love that cat!   Here are my first two creations thus far.

I popped both of the Fluffles images up on Stampin' Dimensionals.  I love this image because you can add almost any sentiment you want  that will fit in his little box.  I am far from done with this little guy.

I may be trying to break a record. . .

No, seriously, I'm obviously having fun posting today.  It's a miracle that I have time to post anything with school going on, but one of the kids is doing Math and the other is practicing piano.  I seem to have found some time simply because they are occupied with things that can be done on their own.  Never mind the fact that my floor needs to be vacuumed or that I need to fix my hair before I go grocery shopping. . .lol.  I love my hectic life and wouldn't trade it for anything :D  

This first card is a card I made for a dear friend that is having a baby.  We just found out and are so thrilled for them!  I made the different background dots with my various circle punches and Tangerine Tango paper.  The main color is Appricot Appeal.  I stamped the giraffe in Appricot Appeal onto the Whisper White paper.  I feebly attempted to sew on the card, and as much as I enjoy the little sewing machine I wish I had room to p

ut out my big sewing machine. . .sigh.  I punched a couple of small holes around the giraffes neck and tied some brown thread around him.  I sponged some Baja Breeze on the outside of the Whisper White, and voila!

Liquid Applique

I've used the Liquid Applique on cards in the past, but I never explained how to use it.  As you can see from the picture, I used the White Liquid Applique on the fluff of the little girl's coat.  This stuff is really fun to work with.  To use it, you squirt enough over the area to cover what you want covered.  In this case, I decided to add some glitter to her fluff while it was still wet.  I tapped off the excess glitter and then using my heating gun, I heated the Liquid Applique until it puffed.  When you're done heating it, you need to let it cool for a bit, otherwise your puffiness could get flattened and it's not a pretty image :D  I hope you have fun making things puffy!

I must admit when I first bought this set, I obviously really liked it, but didn't know the potential for it until I actually had it in my hands.  I LOVE this set now!  I'm not sure if you can see it in the picture, but I used Crystal Effects on each of the fish to make them appear shiny.  I also popped up the little girl with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I made a fishing pole with a twig stamp, and glued some white string to the pole and under the fish.

Working with Flower Soft

I bought Flower Soft last month from CD Stamps, because I was very intrigued with it.  I wasn't 100% sure what I was going to do with, so I tried to pick colors that I thought I could get some use out of.  I've used it in past posts before.  If you remember it was used on the Owl, and that was my first attempt.  Then I used it on a Chicken card, and I loved the way it turned out.  It adds such texture to an image.  This time I thought I would try using it to cover a little more "ground" if you will.  

I used Crystal Effects and dabbed it over various parts of the tree.  I didn't want full coverage so this is why I dabbed.  After that, I pulled some of the flower soft out of the container and sprinkled it over the top of the area to be covered.  I like to cover it with a lot and mash it down a bit, then let it dry and tap off the excess.  This is the result.

Stampin' Dimensionals

I made this card purely for fun.  I hadn't yet used the hen from the Farm Critters set from Clear Dollar Stamps, so I wanted to ink her up.  I really love this color combination together.  I used a 6x6 inch piece of cardstock for the base, and layered from there.  The hen is colored with my Stampin' Write markers, since I do not have copic markers.  I popped her up using dimensionals, and covered the chipboard frame with the DSP and filed it down.  I think by making all of these cards, I'm trying to take my mind off of the fact that new stamp sets are going to be available from Clear Dollar on the 1st of February.  It's driving me crazy. . .I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

I think I may be in love with this Label Nestabilities set.  I can't stop using it. . .lol!  Here is my take on today's Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge.  Along with a sketch I wanted to challenge myself to think outside of my normal colors.  I think I really did that by using this combination.  I really like how it turned out!

On a side note, my neighbor came over the other day and bought 14 of my cards, which included all of my cat themed cards.  I was thrilled that she wanted them and felt very honored that she wanted to purchase them.  This is an attempt to replenish my stock of cat themed cards.  I have a few more "Fluffles" stamps coming in the mail, and I can't wait!

A Card Exchange Amongst the Kids

My best friend moved to Texas in the beginning of December, so I think that I have been feeling so withdrawn because of it.  To cope, we have established a pretty nice card exchange between the 2 of us, and it's working quite nicely.  Her beautiful artwork is displayed in my house, and I send her cards too.  It, along with texting, have kept us pretty close despite the miles.  This makes a little less painful when I wish I could stamp with her rather than my cat. . .lol.  It's kind of funny, because our kids have caught on a bit and started sending cards back and forth as well.  We got this from her 5 year old son just yesterday:

I made this card for my sister's man, my brother-in-law, who just recently got a new job.  We are so proud of him.  Come to think of it, I have some pretty amazing brothers-in-law.  One of them even comments on my cards here on my blog.  I am very blessed. :D  

I don't have copic markers, but I may take the plunge one of these days.  For now, I will continue to use my Stampin' Up! markers, which seem to do the trick nicely.

A Couple of Coaster Books

I made both of these books with my Bind-it-all system, which is such a blast to use.  In some strange way, I feel like I have some bit of power. . .lol. . .only to create any size book I want.  It is a great system that I bought through Clear Dollar Stamps.  That site has so many crafting things besides just stamps, even though the stamps are completely adorable.  I wait with anticipation every month for the new releases.  Here are the first books I have made with the system.  I used coasters to make both of these books.  The "Love" notebook was made for my mom, and the "Owl" notebook was made as a sketch book for myself.  (I love that little owl)

The Weekend CDS Color Challenge

Before you judge too harshly, there is NO natural light in my house because it is raining outside.  The card itself is really quite cute, so don't pay attention to the fact that the picture isn't that good.  This weekend's color challenge for Clear Dollar Stamps on Paper Craft Planet was to use the colors Sahara Sand, Pretty in Pink, Appricot Appeal, and Whisper White.  Linda Borneman hosted the challenge this weekend.  

I started out using a 6x6 piece of Sahara Sand cardstock, a 5 1/4 x 2 1/4 piece of White cardstock, and a 5x2 piece of Appricot Appeal paper that I ran through my tiny bubbles embossing folder.  I stamped 'Mama Kitty' in the white cardstock that I cut using my ovals Nestabilities.  I stamped the pillow on Pretty in Pink DSP, and the 'Mama Kitty' on another piece of white cardstock, and cut them both out.  I used the Stampin' Up! markers, Pretty in Pink and Sahara Sand to color the cat, then glued the pillow on the cardstock, and "popped" the cat up using Stampin' Dimensionals.

A Clear Dollar Color Challenge

It's been a bit difficult to come up with some time this weekend, because my husband has a 4 day weekend.  It's a great problem to have. . .having him around, but it's made it challenging to find a few minutes in my craft cave.  Here is what I came up with for the weekend Clear Dollar color challenge on Paper Craft Planet.  I love this little bunny from the Spring Critters set from Clear Dollar.  The challenge was to use the colors Pink Pirouette, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, and Whisper White.  I used my little $10 sewing machine to sew the outside of the Old Olive paper, and once again, I popped the little bunny up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Here are a couple of cards I created with the Sketch Challenge on Splitcoaststampers for today.  I had fun with this sketch.  This first card uses the stamp set Espress Yourself from Stampin' Up!  Unfortunately this little guy is retired, but still inspires me so I will not be selling him :)  I ended up using Creamy Caramel ink for the coffee cup in the background.  I inked it up really well, then stamped it off on some scratch paper, then stamped it on the paper.  After that I took the sentiment and using Chocolate Chip ink I stamped it over the coffee cup image.  Naturally, (because I seem to be obsessed with sponging), I sponged the outside of the cardstock with Kiwi Kiss.  Here is the result.

Color Challenge

Today's color challenge on Splitcoaststampers was to use the colors Kraft (or Creamy Caramel), Baja Breeze, and Not Quite Navy. I only happened to get this card in between Roman History and Science. I let the kids have a 20 minute break rather than a 15 minute break, and it's amazing how the creative juices were able to fly with an extra 5 minutes. As a homeschooling mom you have to take the free opportunities when they arise, and they don't seem to "arise" as often as I would like. . .lol. As a matter of fact I am typing bits of this in between spelling words :)

On the description of this card, sigh. This color combination is such a great one. It makes me think of ice and cold, which is how it feels outside today. With that in mind, I had two choices. I started making a card with the whale image from "Winter Eskimo" from Clear Dollar Stamps. I also really wanted to make a card with "Espress Yourself" from Stampin' Up!, but with only 20 minutes I couldn't work that much of a miracle. Maybe later.

I just love this little whale. . .so much so, that I wanted more than one of him on the card. I decided to use the mirror technique. That is done by stamping your image onto a larger flat piece of rubber and then immediately stamping that onto the paper. It will give you a mirrored image. After mirroring the little guy, I used a blender pen and Baja Breeze ink to give him a bit more dimension.

A Paper Craft Planet Challenge

This is my first post for the Paper Craft Planet, Clear Dollar Stamp Color Challenge for this weekend. The challenge was to use the colors: Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, Cameo Coral, and Very Vanilla. This is what I came up with.
Once again, I must reiterate that I either need to learn to take better pictures, or get a new camera. This picture isn't very good, but I think the card is cute. I thought I would try something a little different with the main background paper, so I sanded the whole piece of DSP. This is the third card I have sewn on and I am really starting to like doing that. I paper pieced my pig and sponged his background.

A Very Productive Day

On top of today being a productive school day for the kids, it was also a productive stamping day for me. Yeah, I know when it rains it pours. . .I either do not have time to post and an abundance of things to post, or I do have time and I'm scrabbling to make things to post. Not that I mind making things. I totally enjoy going into my craft cave and getting away from things. So, sorry for those of you whom are bored looking at my posts for the day, but I just have to share. Tomorrow will probably be one of those days that nothing gets posted, so bear with me :)

Riding the wave of my excitement from my latest shipment of Clear Dollar Stamps, here are two more cards from two new sets.

This card was inspired by a gift bag that Kim Teasdale made. I obviously switched things up a bit. I made the igloo with Baja Breeze DSP that I ran through my Cuttlebug with the Tiny Mosaic embossing folder. I then cut out two half circles. The white stitching is faux stitching with a white gel pen. I watercolored the girl using Not Quite Navy, then cut her out and used white liquid applique on her coat fluff. I poured glitter over the top before I heated it. What a fun set.Stamps: Winter Eskimo

I have go to learn to take better pictures, because this just doesn't give it justice. I did pop the image up with Stampin' Dimensionals, which obviously gives it dimension.

Chocolate Anyone?

As soon as I saw this new stamp set called "Chocoholic" from Clear Dollar Stamps, I fell in love. I was elated when it came in the mail yesterday and could not wait to play with it. These are a couple of things I've made with it, but have many more plans for this little beauty. . .muhuaha.
The chocolate bar in the picture is glistening, partly because of the sun on the medium I used and partly because I still have a lot to learn about photography. For the chocolate bar I thought it would be fun to make it shine, so after coloring it with Close to Cocoa, I used my Versamark marker on the chocolate part of the image and then covered it with Glossy Glaze. For those of you who have not used Glossy Glaze, it's embossing powder that is not a powder but small granules. This way, when it is heated it looks like a glaze. I also colored the silver wrapper with a silver pen, to give it the foil look. Once again, I popped the image up on dimensionals.Stamps: Chocoholic

So Excited

As a stamper, simple things seem to get me excited. I got my new sets from Clear Dollar Stamps yesterday, and I was elated. I couldn't wait to get started using some of the new things I received in the mail. The first couple of cards I made with stamps that have been out for a little while, but I was excited to use them with the new word set "Critter Messages".

This first card was so fun to make. I used "Claudette Camel", "Critter Messages", and the Basic Grey Offbeat paper. I was really trying to make sure the camel looked camoflauged, so it was a bit difficult matching the image up, but it worked out. This is the result.
Obviously the part that made this difficult was popping Claudette up off the page. I had to make sure that she was lined up correctly on the stripes. For me, it wasn't enough just to stamp her on the paper, I needed her to stand out a bit more.Stamps: Claudette Camel, Critter Messages

This next image is "Harriette Hippo" from Clear Dollar Stamps. I got the Basic Grey Offbeat DSP a short while ago, and I have been trying to use it all up, so most of my projects lately have used this paper. Once again, this card uses it. I had planned to use the "Critter Messages" on this card too, but I just could not incorporate it after all was said and done. Not to say that it couldn't have been used, I just wasn't "feeling it". . .lol.
I did the same thing with Harriette that I did with Claudette. It just hasn't been "enough" simply to stamp these cuties, I need to make them "pop." Okay, enough with the quotations, because my kids are really laughing at me right now. Here you can see that I made Harriette pop our more than just one layer. My picture is a tad blurry, but you get the jist :)

I have really been enjoying playing with my Clear Dollar Stamps. I know I didn't post much information on what I did, but that is because I have been crazily just posting the cards. I may put more information later. I hope you've enjoyed seeing what I've been doing over the past 4 weeks. There has been more, but just no time to post. As it is, I am off to piano lessons with my daughter.

I made this as a Christmas present for my nephew, Weston. I made one for his brother the year before with cars on it, and figured that this would suit Weston. I had a ton of fun making it for him.

A little bit of "Catch Up"

I'm sure that all will give me a "hrumph" when I say that December was an incredibly crazy month. I made things throughout the month, but did not have even 10 minutes to post any of it. I have found (as crazy as it sounds) that with my husband home, I have less time. This is probably due to the fact that I know he will be gone next Christmas, so every spare moment is spent with him and the kids. We did have an amazing Christmas, and we did nothing. It was wonderful. . .we just spent time together. We made memories of playing Wii family games, having light-saber wars, Blokus challenges, and lots of just hanging out together. With that being said, it is now back to the grind. School has started back up, work has commenced for my husband, and I get to craft again.
