A Wedding Gift

I was hired out a little while ago to make a wall hanging as a wedding gift for one of my mother-in-law's friends. She sent me a baggie full of ribbon and her only specifications for this project were to use the Proverbs 16:24 verse and to have the ribbon dangling from it. She had seen a wall hanging that I had made my mother-in-law a while back that was to be used for displaying cards from. Here is the link to the one I had made myself in the past.
Stamps: none
Ink: none
Paper: Frosty Days dsp, Whisper White
Accessories: Paper Blooms, dew drops, Pretties kit, Labels 4 Nestabilities, frame, ribbon
I'm going to be honest. While I like this project, it was a hardship getting to the end result. Coming up with the layout and putting all the goodies and bling on it was fun, as always. When I went to assemble it, that is where the challenge came in. This frame is not the highest quality, so I had to reinforce the back with some hodgepodge that you obviously don't see. In doing so, I had to drill some small holes in the back, but I did not have any tacks or tiny nails to fasten it down. I did find some smaller nails in my husband's tool chest, so I thought 'aha, I will clip these babies down and that should do the trick.' I grabbed some needle nose pliers and decided to 'clip' the nails down to the appropriate size.

The first one was a breeze, but the second one not so much. I think it would have worked perfectly had I not gotten the meat of my hand caught in the clippers. Yes, you read that right, I took a chunk out of my hand in between my thumb and my pointer finger. Ok, it's not as bad as it sounds. I can move my hand, but it certainly 'smarts' if you know what I mean. I'm pretty sure I won't be crafting anymore tonight, but hopefully I'll be up for it tomorrow.

Clear Dollar Sneak Peeks Day #4

This is the final day of sneak peeks for Clear Dollar Stamps, which means that everything that has been shown to you over the last 4 days will be available for purchase TOMORROW, July 1st!! Today I'm showing you the Stamp of the Month (SOM) for July. It's called Tag It and can be yours for FREE with any $50 purchase before shipping. After all the wonderful things that have been shown, I'm sure you'll find $50 worth of stamps and other wonderful things to buy.

My first sample was made from a backpack pattern that I found in a very old edition of Paper Crafts magazine. I'm so proud of myself, because I finally figured out how to enlarge a pattern so that it fits the paper perfectly. Don't ask me to explain it, because I'm pretty sure I couldn't. ;P It's a fun card, because the flap opens up for you to be able to write your message. It fits in a standard invitation envelope.
Stamps: Tag It -- July SOM (Clear Dollar Stamps)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Perfect Plum
Paper: Perfect Plum, Perfect Plum dsp, Whisper White
Accessories: backpack pattern, silver hodgepodge, Tags Trio Nestabilities, silver rivet, silver charm, purple ribbon, black marker, sponge

My next sample is a fun little nugget box. I really like how it turned out, and because it was so easy, I plan to make more to have on hand. You never know when you're going to need a little something for someone special.
Stamps: Tag It -- July SOM (Clear Dollar Stamps)
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Razzleberry Lemonade, Whisper White

My Pick for the CDSWCC25 Featured Stamper

Oh my goodness! The two times that I have had the privelege of hostessing the Clear Dollar Stamps Weekend Color Challenge over at Papercraft Planet have been awesome! I do believe that the ladies conspire together to make my choice of featured stamper incredibly difficult though! LOL, I'm just kidding, but the talent is amazing. There were 11 ladies who participated this weekend, and it was so wonderful to see all the talent and inspiration. The colors to be used were Riding Hood Red (or a deep red), Summer Sun (or a dark yellow), Kiwi Kiss (or an olive green), an optional Chocolate Chip (or dark brown), and White. Everyone's take on the colors were so different. I love it!

After a lot of deliberation, Audrey's card is the card I chose to feature. I just love this covered bridge, and how Audrey used the colors. She made it look antiqued, which I never would have thought of for these colors. The simplicity of the layout works perfectly for this image, and the faux ribbon and brads are the perfect accents. Nice job, Audrey!

Like I said before, this was a tough choice, so I want to link you to all the talented ladies and their cards. You'll love what these ladies did with the colors, so go leave them some love!

Thanks for playing ladies! Be sure to check out the color challenge next weekend ;D

Clear Dollar Sneak Peeks Day #3

Here it is, day 3 of the Clear Dollar Stamps Sneak Peeks and there are still so many great sets to see. It's hard to believe, but CDS just keeps coming up with amazing stamps to debut! I only have one set to show you today, but it is a super fun masculine set that you will have so much fun playing with. This set is called Yard Yabber and has 21 stamps for the small price of $14.99. I loved this set from the moment I saw it!

My first sample is one of my favorites because it has some retiring colors used on it. Laurie blows me away with her artistic talent in designing so many of the CD Stamps. I chose to watercolor both of these samples, and I really like how they turned out.
Stamps: Yard Yabber (Clear Dollar Stamps)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss, Tangerine Tango, Basic Gray, Basic Black
Paper: Basic Gray, watercolor paper, Good Morning Sunshine DSP, Whisper White
Accessories: aqua painter, Peony Nestabilities, SU dimensionals, oval punch, sponge, Tangerine Tango ribbon, white gel pen
My next sample makes me laugh out loud. The sentiment that I put on the inside just makes me invision this gigantic cake that needs to be cut. I can imagine some big guy grabbing his chainsaw and making a huge frosting mess all over everyone cutting into the cake {lol}. I found this corkboard in my stash of goodies and knew it would be perfect for this card.
Stamps: Yard Yabber (Clear Dollar Stamps)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Real Red, Basic Gray, Going Gray, Soft Suede
Paper: Soft Suede, DCWV All About Boys, cork board, watercolor paper, Whisper White
Accessories: aqua painter, sponge, oval cutter, Top Note Bigz Die, red ribbon, window punch, white gel pen

If you'd like to see more samples done with this set check out these wonderful ladies blogs: Katie, Sarah, Candy, & Laurie

But that's not all! There are still more stamps to show off today. All of the stamps that have been shown over the past couple of days will be available on July 1st, so you don't have to wait much longer. Here are a list of the other sets you can get a peek at:

My next set of samples is from a really fun set called Veggie Stew! This is a set of 19 for only $9.99. Wow, that is such a great value, as are all of Clear Dollar's Stamps. My last sample just makes me giggle. How hilarious would that be to receive a card like this in the mail. I think it would make me feel a bit better about any 'pickle' I might be in {hehe}. I made this one monochromatic to go along with one of the challenges given to the DT. I'm still giggling to myself about this one {hehe}.

Just for Fun

I'm so excited, because my husband actually put in for some leave for today and tomorrow. We will be leaving in a few hours for Atlanta, because tonight is the Yankees vs. Braves game at Turner field. For Father's Day the kids and I ended up getting all of us new Yankees t-shirts to wear at the game, and my husband was so thrilled! Jim has been a fan every since he was a little kid, and we are definitely a baseball family.

Okay, onto the goods. I made this card for fun. I'm really quite sad, as I always am whenever the In Color colors are about to retire. So I thought I would use Baja Breeze, Pacific Point, and Kiwi Kiss (wiping a tear away). Christi and I discussed the other day how we always do this. Then after the new In Colors are out, we can't even remember the names of the old ones {lol}. It's so true.
Stamps: Smooth Sailing (Clear Dollar Stamps)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Baja Breeze, Pacific Point, Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand
Paper: Very Vanilla, watercolor paper, Baja Breeze, textured Pacific Point, Kiwi Kiss dsp, Muirfield dsp

I made this card for the Splitcoaststampers Sketch challenge and for the Color Dare challenge. I'm about out of baby cards, and I've been dying to use my new Gigi Giraffe from Clear Dollar Stamps. These 2 challenges were the perfect combination for my baby card. On top of all that, I had received this awesome gift from my best friend, Christi and I have really been wanting to use it on something that I could show you all. She got me the Large Pinking Circle Nestabilities! Don't I have the greatest best friend!?

The colors we had to use were Kiwi Kiss, Pink Passion, and Apricot Appeal. Fun colors, huh? I'm really going to miss Kiwi Kiss when it retires. It has become one of my favorite colors!

We are back from our mini vacation, and it was fantastic. I love the beach! It's so relaxing and fun. We enjoyed ourselves so much. Here is a picture of my kids and their body boards. They were 'shredding' the waves (as they called it).
This next one is a picture of my kids and my man at a beach blast we attended. It wasn't so much for me the grown ups, but the kids seemed to enjoy it. It was pirate themed if you couldn't tell ;)

All right, now down to business. This is my card for this weekend's Clear Dollar Stamps Color Challenge over at Papercraft Planet. Alex is our hostess and I love the colors she chose. Mojo Monday 89

I have had a house full of kids all day.  Two were mine, but the other 4 were a friend's.  Very delightful kids to have around, and they reminded me why once upon a time I did want a lot of kids.  While we did do some stamping, it was mostly them making father's day cards and me cleaning up afterward.  It was sure fun to see their faces light up when they were finished with their creation for their dad.  It's now a quarter to midnight, and I can still hear their little voices in there.  Maybe I shouldn't have given them ice cream after the popcorn. . .

Anyway, this is the card that I snuck off to make in between telling them to quiet down.  I made it for the Mojo Monday challenge, which is always so much fun to participate in.  I used the set Cat-tastic from Clear Dollar Stamps.  Such a fun set that I haven't played with nearly enough.
Stamps:  Cat-tastic (Clear Dollar Stamps)
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Cameo Coral
Paper:  More Mustard, DCWV Pet Stacks, Green Galore, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Cameo Coral
