MFT Guest Designer Challenge

Scroll down to see today's sneak peeks for CDS, please.

It's been a day. . .one bummer of a day. . .a day that makes me wonder why I ever started home schooling.  I'm sure I'll remember why tomorrow, but today. . .not so much.  I won't bore you with the details of the weekend, as it was a rough one too.  Needless to say after that comment, I didn't get a chance to make even one card for VSN.

I needed something to cheer me up, so I thought I would try my hand at the MFT Guest Designer for March. The challenge was to use dimension with the MFT Die-namics.  I have a 'few' in my stash, so I pulled out my Sheltering Tree Die-namic and my Fresh Cut Grass Die-namics.  I added the dimension using two different widths of dimensionals to the grass.  My kids were so impressed with that (too bad they weren't impressed by my English lecture, lol).  I used the Fred Bear Goes Camping set from MFT, because I need to be more of a 'happy camper' right about now.  This too shall pass. . .(sigh).
Here's a closer look at the grass, and my attempt at dimension.
Stamps:  Fred Bear Goes Camping
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Paper:  buttercream, OA Campfire
Accessories:  Copics, Sheltering Tree Die-namics, Fresh Cut Grass Die-namics, dimensionals, sponges

Clear Dollar Stamps Sneak Peek Day 1

A short month means that we can get to Clear Dollar Stamps sneak peeks a bit quicker!  There are 3 fabulous sets along with a new Die set for your eyes to feast upon!  One of the things I love about CDS is their focus on scripture and Christian elements.  It warms my heart to send scripture in the form of a card.

The first set I'm showing is called Scriptures of Peace, which is a set of 8 for only $14.99.  I can see using this set over and over, because of the wonderful message of peace.  Being the wife of a soldier, these scriptures make perfect sense.  I made a corner bookmark with one of the verses, and I truly love how it turned out.  I will definitely be making more of these.
Stamps:  Scriptures of Peace
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Hot Cocoa (CDS)
Paper:  unknown dp, buttercream (TE), Spring Leaf (CDS)
Copics:  R20, R22, airbrush
Accessories:  Labels 3 & Circle Nestabilities, sponge, half back pearls, Tropical Mist ribbon (CDS), Open Scallop Die-namics (MFT)

The next set is called Cross Messages and it uses the latest CDS Die called the Cross Messages Die.  I adore both of these, because the potential for some amazing Christian cards is so great!  Cross Messages is a set of 27 stamps for only $14.99.  I made this fun set of 4 notecards.  They were quick and easy and I really like them :)
Stamps:  Cross Messages
Ink:  Hot Cocoa (CDS), Elegant Eggplant (SU)
Paper:  Worn Parchment, Hot Cocoa, Vanilla, Grape Jelly (all CDS)
Accessories:  Cross Messages Die, dimensionals, sponge, Forest Branches  & Ornamental Iron embossing folders

This last card was made with a set that coordinates with both Cross Messages & the Cross Messages Die and is called Cross Messages Additions!  Don't you just love all of the options?!  Cross Messages Additions is a set of 9 for only $9.99, and I just adore all of the decorative elements to this awesome set.
 Stamps:  Cross Messages Additions
Ink:  Spring Leaf (CDS)
Paper:  Pineapple Twist, Spring Leaf, Cottonball White (all from CDS)
Accessories:  Cross Messages Die, twine, dimensionals, BG half back pearls

Those are the CDS sneaks for the day, but there is more to see tomorrow!  Head over to Lori's blog, and then all of the DT (links in my sidebar) to see the great creations made with these beauties above :D

Who's that Musical Girl?

I received my MFT VIP kit in the mail the other day and was thrilled the number of goodies it came with!  Since I hadn't used my latest Taylored Expression Key Ingredient Kit, I decided to use the 2 together.  This set called Who's that Musical Girl? was a must for me since my daughter plays piano.  I used some Red Sparkly Fluff on her shirt to make it look like a sweater of sorts.  The sketch is from Sweet Sketch Wednesday, and it fits the Stamp Something Flowers challenge.
Stamps:  Who's that Musical Girl?, unavailable music set from MFT
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  February TE KI Kit, Cottonball White (CDS)
Accessories:  Copics, flowers, ribbon, & brad from Feb TE KI Kit, Red Sparkly Fluff (TE), Tags, Circles, & Ribbon Tags Trio Nestabilities, Ornamental Iron & Swiss Dots embossing folders, sponge

March TE Blast from the Past Blog Hop

Hey hey!  It's Blog Hop time!  I'm showing off my 'Going Green' card for this month's Taylored Expressions March Blog Hop.  I figured what better way to sport my 'green' than to use my Udderly Sweet set from TE.  I don't know what it is about Cuppie using his tractor, but it just makes me smile and giggle, hehe.  I love the Midwest, and Cuppie's tractor makes me miss home :(
 Stamps:  Udderly Sweet
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  previously released TE Kit, buttercream
Accessories:  Copics & airbrush, circle punch, arrow punch, orange twill ribbon, orange buttons, dimensionals
Go ahead and hop around and see how everyone else went 'green'. . .I'm sure you'll love the eye candy :D

MFT Sketch

I'm not sure how I managed it, but I found some time to make a card for the MFT Weekly Sketch Challenge going on over at Splitcoaststampers.  I used my little Beach Bum from MFT along with Clearly Sentimental about Vacations.

Be my Love Monkey

Are there ever just sets that you see and just have to have because they remind you of someone or something?  Well this adorable set from The Cat's Pajama's called Hearts and Flowers just happened to be on sale, and that little monkey makes me think of my son. . .sooooo. . .you see it is now in my possession.  Haha, he certainly chuckled when he saw this image :D

I followed the color challenge of pink, brown, and teal over at the TCP blog, and it also follows the sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches.
Stamps:  Hearts and Flowers
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black, Melon Mambo
Paper:  heavy watercolor (CDS), SU Bermuda Bay, SU Melon Mambo, SU Chocolate Chip, Cottonball White (CDS)
Accessories:  Copics B23, B15 & airbrush, Circle & Pinking Circle Nestabilities, Forest Branches embossing folder, striped brown ribbon (CDS), Open Scallop Die-namics (MFT), pink jewels, black embossing powder, Tombows & waterbrush

I feel a nap coming on before practices. . .yawn!

Party Time Tuesday

If you're looking for the Help 4 Katie post go HERE.

I made this using the Bold Butterflies and Bold Butterflies Die from Clear Dollar Stamps.  Over at Party Time Tuesday the challenge is Anything Goes, so this fits perfectly!  I actually tried to sew the butterflies on there, but my cheap-o sewing machine just couldn't do it.  I now had holes so I had to use a white gel pen to make it look like sewing, haha.
Stamps:  Bold Butterflies
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Cottonball White (CDS), Bee Pollen (CDS), Night Eclipse (CDS), Spring Leaf (CDS), Dusty Durango (SU)
Accessories:  sponge, Victoria embossing folder, white gel pen, Bold Butterflies Die (CDS), window punch

It's a 2nd Round of Help 4 Katie

I'm sure you've all heard about our poor Katie by this point.  You should have come to my blog from Stacy, but if you just happened upon my blog you'll want to make sure and start at Lori's blog so you don't miss a thing.

It breaks my heart that Katie and her family are having to endure this, but Katie has handled it all with such grace.  If you haven't read about her journey you can.  She has been posting about this process since the beginning.  While it tugs at the heart, she also puts her 'Katie' humor in there.  Gosh I love that gal.  Please join me in praying for her and her family.

My card uses the digital set designed by Laurie called It's my Potty.  Lori's blog post gives the hilarious story behind it, and I have to say that I had a little hand in helping come up with some of the sayings.  Oh so fun ;)  I imagine the background paper as some sort of crazy wallpaper in a bathroom that might actually house a toilet like this, haha.  And of course lace and pearls. . .which were airbrushed to match the gold trim :D
Image:  It's My Potty
Paper:  My Mind's Eye Tickled Pink, Cottonball White (CDS), Tropical Mist (CDS)
Copics:  BG15, YR23, RV04, RV06, C1, YG03, airbrush
Accessories:  corner chomper, lace, Rolled Rose Die-namics (MFT), dimensionals, half back pearls

Now be sure to make the final stop, which is the Help 4 Katie blog.  That is where you can make donations for the 2 different digital packages and see the prizes that are up for grabs just for making a donation between February 20th through April 20th.  Thank you so much for taking the time to hop along and consider donating to help Katie and her family :D

Baby Announcements

Whew!  I finally finished the baby announcements for my nephew.  I had such a blast making these, and I sure hope my sister-in-law loves them as much as I do.  I only had to make 25, but these really reignited my love for watercoloring.  The Tombows make it such a breeze to watercolor too, and Clear Dollar Stamps has matched up the different Tombows to their paper to make it that much easier.

I used this adorable set called Dinomite from Clear Dollar Stamps :D
Stamps:  Dinomite
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:  Tropical Mist (CDS), Watercolor (CDS)
Accessories:  Tombows & waterbrush, corner chomper, black embossing powder, Tags Nestabilities, Tiny Bubbles embossing folder, dimensionals, black twine

Stamp It! Stamping with Markers

It's a lovely Friday, and I'm about to leave to FINALLY get a haircut. . .why do I let those things slip?!  Anyway, I have a card to show for the Moxie Fab World: Stamp It! Stamping with Markers challenge.  This adorable, egg image is from a Clear Dollar Stamps set called You're Eggs-traordinary.  I colored it using Copics and put some Stickles on the dots.  I even used Copics to airbrush the background.
Stamps:  You're Eggs-traordinary
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Cottonball White (CDS), SU Kaleidoscope
Copics:  B00, B02, B04, Yr00, YR02, V12, YR31, airbrush
Accessories:  Star Dust Stickles, Labels 17 Nestabilities, organdy ribbon, dimensionals, purple button, white thread, corner rounder
I'm hoping to get a little more 'craft cave' time since my man is home for the day, but now I'm late for my haircut ;)  See you later!

MFT Weekly Sketch #7

I had some time this afternoon (not much, mind you), so I decided to to take a break from obligations and make a little something just for me. . .and a challenge.  I made this using the sketch from MFT over at Splitcoaststampers.  I used my MFT set called Feelin' Fruity?  I just adore this set, and it's cute bold fruit.

New Digis & SVGs at Clear Dollar Stamps!

It's the middle of the month, and it's payday. . .no wait, that's not was I was going to say. . .it's Digi Release Day at Clear Dollar Stamps!  It's a great time, because there is always an array of gorgeous digis.  Not only that, but CDS has some new SVGs to add to your collection.  If you have a Cricut and you haven't tried SVGs you are missin' out, my friend.

The new SVG is called Spring Bouquet SVG Accents, and it has a lot of great flowers and grass, and leaves for you to try out.  I used some designer paper and this was my first card with these babies.
Stamps:  John 14:1
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Cottonball White (CDS), BG Curio
Accessories:  Cricut, Spring Bouquet SVG Accents, Swiss Dots embossing folder, gold brads

And here is another showing off some of the grass and a branch.
Stamps:  John 14:1
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Worn Parchment (CDS), Cherry Go Round (CDS), unknown dp, Pebble Treehouse dp
Accessories:  Cricut, Spring Bouquet SVG Accents, orange brads (CDS), dimensionals, gold Spica pen

This next card features the new digital image called River Glorious.  I love this image.  It is just so beautiful, and it comes with some great sentiments and verses.  I made mine to look like the valleys in CA.  Yes, the grass is mostly yellow in the summer, but the trees are beautiful.  No, I don't live there; at least not anymore, but I did for 3 years.  This is my tribute to the CA valley.
 Images:  River Glorious
Ink:  Black Soot & Vintage Photo Distress inks
Paper:  Grape Jelly (CDS), Cottonball White (CDS), CC Wanted
Accessories:  Prismacolor & gamsol, Fancy Tags Nestabilities, sponges, Grape Jelly ribbon (CDS), white gel pen
I'm so glad you stopped by today, and I hope you found a little inspiration.  Be sure to check out the rest of the Digital DT for CDS (links on my sidebar) to see what they've been up to!

A Moosed Birthday

Okay, so I didn't actually miss any birthdays.  Today is my bff, Christi's husbands birthday, but I really don't think he would care if he got a card from me or not, lol.  The funny thing is, I'm terrible at sending cards.  I have great intentions to do it, but then I just can't seem to follow through on it.  I guess I just have more fun making them.

I made this card for the Corrosive Challenge, which was a sketch.  I used the Birthday Moose digital set from Clear Dollar Stamps.  Speaking of which, tomorrow is new release day for CDS digis, so be sure to come back and check out some new digis and SVGs.
Images:  Birthday Moose
Ink:  Tea Dye Distress Ink
Paper:  K&C Co dp, vanilla (CDS), buttercream (TE)
Copics:  BG23, R27, YR14, YG03, E31, E33, E37, E47
Accessories:  Swiss Dots & Argyle embossing folders, sponge, arrow punch, dimensionals, buttons

Happy Valentine's Day

He's the guy who can make me smile in almost all situations.  He gets my humor, and after almost 13 years he still makes my heart flutter and gives me butterflies.  I could look for a million years and never find someone who loves me the way he does.  He lets me get away with almost anything, and he loves me so much more than I deserve on most days.  I truly do thank God for this man every day.
 My hottie in his Stetson.
Here he had gotten back from deployment #2, so we went to Monterey.  I had him stand in front of the Crabby Jim's sign. . .because my Jim is truly never crabby.  He couldn't even make a crabby face.  The second take was a bit better of an attempt at 'crabby', haha.
We used to say that we may not be perfect for each other, but we aren't good enough for anyone else, lol.  But that's not true, because we really are perfect for each other.
Jim, I love you.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Happy Saturday!  It is now baseball/softball season down in the South, so our weeknights and weekends are filled with practices, practices, and more practices.  The only day off is Sunday. . .'thank you, Lord for a day of rest' (that's an honest prayer!).

I have something fun to show.  I don't normally stray too far from cards, but occasionally I'll throw in a box, or journal, and today I'm showing off some framed art.  I bought a 4" x 6" wooden frame from our local craft store and painted it white, or at least it is a bit whitewashed.  I used the 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 stamp from Clear Dollar Stamps.  I love that they have full verses in stamp form.  I made this for the Simon Says 'anything but a card' challenge, I used the Sweet Sketch Wednesday sketch for my layout, and it fits the 'cut it out' challenge for Our Creative Corner (I cut out the frame papers).
 Stamps:  1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Rich Razzleberry (SU)
Paper:  Cottonball White (CDS), Razzleberry Lemon dp (or something like that, hehe)
Accessories:  half back pearls, sponge, Rolled Flower Die-namics (MFT), yellow felt (MFT), wooden frame, white acrylic paint, Copic marker V12 with airbrush

I love white or off white pearls, because with Copics you can make them any color you want!  I used my airbrush system to make sure I didn't have brush strokes, but I love how they turned out.  I kind of feel like there is something missing from this picture.  Maybe it's the space in between the two top pearls. . .do you think it needs something?
I hope you all have a wonderful and restful weekend :D

Bubs the Beaver

My mother is here teaching my daughter to sew, which just warms my heart.  She's making a mini quilt, and that girl is getting good!  I love it!  While they are 'playing', I did a little playing of my own.  I pulled out this adorable Our Craft Lounge Stamp called Bubs the Beaver.  I had three challenges in mind when I made this cutie.
Our Craft Lounge -- buttons and  bows
Crafty Creations -- use 3 words
Stamps:  Bubs the Beaver
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black, Vintage Photo distress ink
Paper:  Worn Parchment (CDS), CDS watercolor, BG Max & Whiskers
Accessories:  Copic markers B72, G85 with airbrush, Labels 11 Nestabilities, Tombow markers with water brush, teal twill ribbon (CDS), window punch, black embossing powder, button, brown thread, black pen

Hopefully the weekend will bring more crafting for me and more sewing for my daughter!

No Pinks or Reds

Talk about a challenge!  I was humbled last week when my card was picked over at Raise the Bar, and that meant that this week I would be one of three Guest Bar-tenders over at that fun challenge blog.  Our challenge was to make a Valentine's card without pink or red.  Did you hear that?!  NO PINK OR RED!  I felt stumped, so figured what better way to get it done than to just get to work.  This is actually my second attempt, as my first one actually looked like Easter, haha.

I pulled my Monster Mash set from Clear Dollar Stamps, and this is what I came up with.  Those little monsters make me smile, and my husband actually calls our kids 'little monsters' so they seemed fitting.  I also had these challenges in mind too:
Spoonful of Sugar #138 -- let's see some love
Creative Card Crew -- for a loved one
Stamps:  Monster Mash
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:  TE KI Kit, watercolor
Accessories:  Tombows & waterbrush, chipboard heart, Copic markers BV08 & BG09 with air brush, sticker letters, Circle Nestabilities, dimensionals, purple pen, black embossing powder, white gel pen

Baby Madness

It seems as though everyone around me is getting pregnant! It's very exciting!  I'm done having kids, so it's great to be surrounded by babies again.  I made this for a friend whom I recently got a note from telling us they are pregnant.  Our husbands were deployed together last year and worked very closely, so naturally she and I have a special connection.  As per military, they moved away.  It touched my heart to receive her note, and it makes me miss them so much.

My Favorite Things has this awesome set called Clearly Sentimental About Babies.  It's perfect for making cards for expectant mothers.  I paired it up with some BG Hopscotch paper that my BFF, Christi, sent me.  I made this card for the MFT Sketch Challenge, and the For Fun Challenge of using 'hearts'.
Stamps:  Clearly Sentimental About Babies
Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa, Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Paper:  Cottonball White (CDS), BG Hopscotch
Accessories:  Copics & airbrushing, brown buttons, chipboard hearts, Labels 4 Nestabilities, sponge, brown mini brads (CDS), Brown Sparkly Fluff (TE)

I'm hoping to have some good quality 'craft cave' time, but we'll see what the day brings :D

A New Baby Boy

There is a new baby boy in the family. . .no, it's not mine, lol.  I had 'ya going there, hehe.  My sister-in-law just had a boy, and we are so happy for them.  I made this card to honor that using the Baby Bundle set from Clear Dollar Stamps.  This card also uses the coordinating SVG file that you can get to go along with the set.  If I were going to be making a bunch of baby announcements with this set, the SVG would be the way to go.  I used the 'hearts' challenge from Crafty Cardmakers to get me inspired.
Stamps:  Baby Bundle
Ink:  Tropical Mist (CDS), Cherry Go Round (CDS), Hot Cocoa (CDS)
Paper:  vanilla (CDS), My Mind's Eye dp
Accessories:  Baby Bundle SVG, Oval Nestabilities, sponge, vanilla ribbon, Corner Chomper

Truly Scrumptious Sketch

For those of you that care about it, have a wonderful time celebrating the Super Bowl!  I just look forward to the food and the commercials. . .c'mon I know there are a few more like me out there.  The only football I seem to care about it college. . .you can have the rest.

Okay, onto my card, hehe.  I made this card for the Truly Scrumptious sketch challenge.  I took the liberty to flip the sketch, which I rarely do.  However, it worked a little better for me to do it that way.  I used the Hoppy Frogs set from Clear Dollar Stamps that is a new February release.  This set has a matching SVG file that you can buy.  If you own a Cricut, SCAL and SVG's are the way to go.
Stamps:  Hoppy Frogs
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Spring Leaf (CDS), Ripe Olive (CDS)
Paper:  Cottonball White (CDS), SU Old Olive dp, SU Pink Flamingo dp
Copics:  RV02, B00, YG95, Y28, airbrush
Accessories:  Tabs & Tags Die (CDS), Labels 8 Nestabilities, beads, Stream Mini Translucent beads (CDS), dimensionals, white ribbon, paper flowers

Framed Art

I don't have anything amazing to show off, just something I made a while back for a friend's birthday.  She owns a business and loves the Lord, so I thought this would be the perfect verse for her.  The Scriptures are from Clear Dollar Stamps and it's Proverbs 16:3.
 Stamps:  Proverbs 16:3
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Tea Dye Distress Ink
Paper:  BG Green at Heart, Spring Leaf (CDS), Tickled Pink (CDS)
Accessories:  paper flowers, white ribbon, beads, Stylized Flowers embossing folder, Tickled Pink Ribbon (CDS), frame
Just a reminder that CDS has a bunch of new releases that came out today, so stop by the store to check them out.  Also, you still have a couple of days to enter the CIC for a chance to win some stamps!
