Happy 90th Birthday

My Grandpa turns 90 this weekend up in Nebraska, and I am so home sick to be there.  I  had a special card for him, but I made this one for him last night for my mom to give him.

I normally take my pictures in natural light, but since my mom left so early this morning, I had to take the  pics last night.  It gave me a chance to brush up on some photo editing skills that I lack a bit of ;)  My mom wanted something fun to give him, because my grandpa has a pretty amazing sense of humor.  I used this older set I have from Doodle Factory.  I don't even remember what the set is called, but when I saw those monsters years back I had to have them, haha.

I used some older chipboard numbers that I had from back in the day when I was a demonstrator.  I inked them up, covered them in glue and glitter, and then covered them in glossy glaze for this fun look.  The stars are a Taylored Expressions Die called Seeing Stars Die, and the Notepaper & Clipboard Dies are from TE too.  I also used the Folded Banner Die from Simon Says Stamp.

And here is the inside:

I enjoyed creating this so much, and I'm glad you stopped in to check it out.  I'm hoping for some creative time this afternoon :)

The Truly Scrumptious Challenge

It's a Sunday, and the kids weren't really feeling themselves, so we've opted to make it a lazy day. I made this card for the Truly Scrumptious challenge. Everytime I look at this image from Doodlefactory I can't help but laugh. This is definitely a 'loud' card with all of the colors, but it makes me smile :)
Stamps: Doodlefactory Creatures (Starving Artistamps)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Tangerine Tango, Neenah Solar White, Basic Grey Lime Rickey
Accessories: Copics, handmade blooms from Paper Blooms, window punch, buttons, pink ribbon, circle cutter, black marker

An OCC Challenge

This week is my pastor's 50th birthday.  We are supposed to come up with 50 of the same thing to bring him, and I'm feeling a bit stumped.  I was going to go and get him 50 marbles, but I'm running out of time, so I may have to find something around the house.  Maybe I'll punch out 50 stars or something like that.  I'm sure he'd really appreciate that, lol!  This week's OCC challenge was to use the colors More Mustard, Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy, and a neutral of your choice.
Stamps:  Creatures & Sentiments (DoodleFactory)
Ink:  Basic Black, More Mustard, Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue
Paper:  Watercolor paper, Basic Black, Bashful Blue DSP, Not Quite Navy DSP
Accessories:  aqua painter, ticket punch, Tiny Bubbles embossing folder, More Mustard marker, More Mustard ribbon

An OCC Challenge

I smell like tacos right now, and that is only because I decided to make a card before showering.  You see, I cooked up over 20 pounds of taco meat to feed about 70 soldiers tomorrow.  Some of the ladies from our FRG group thought it would be a good idea to feed the guys when they come out of the field, and I have to agree with them.  One of my husband's soldiers is turning 30 tomorrow so I made him this card from my brand new stamps from the DoodleFactory.  I followed the sketch from Our Creative Corner, and this is what I came up with.
Stamps:  DoodleFactory Creatures
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, Taken with Teal, Neenah Solar White
Accessories:  chipboard, Black Gingham ribbon, slit punch, oval cutters,
Spots & Circles embossing folder, Forest Branches embossing folder, corner punch,
Copics, Stampin' Dimensionals
