Finally a Card!

I finally have a card to show.  Granted, it took me ALL day yesterday to make it, but I did make it.  I had won some blog candy the other day from the lovely Beate that arrived in the mail yesterday, and I just had to make her something with the goodies that I received

This sweet little turtle is called Come Fly With Me from Whimsy Stamps.  I've never owned a stamp from them before, but I have to say, that this certainly won't be my last, because it stamped beautifully and was SO fun to color!  The sketch is from Raise the Bar. . .always a great challenge.

Stamps:  Come Fly With Me
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, CDS Hot Cocoa
Paper:  TE buttercream, Bo Bunny Smoochable
Accessories:  Copics, sponge, Scalloped Circle & Circle Nesties, foam tape, pin pearls, brown ribbon, purple twine, corner rounder

Thanks for stopping by today!  I can't guarantee that I'll have anything else very soon, since this did take me so long and I ended up paying for it later, but I will definitely try :)

A Few Challenges

I got a chance to work on a card for a few challenges!  I love it when it works out that way.  Since my actual birthday was a bit hectic in some respects I took yesterday off too, haha.  Really at my age, just some 'me' time is a hot commodity on the ol' b-day.

I used one of my new MFT stamps called One Sweet Chick, and I paired it up with a Spring Project Pantry Kit from Taylored Expressions.  Here are the challenges I entered this card in:

Raise the Bar -- Hey Chick
Stamps:  One Sweet Chick
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  Spring Project Pantry Kit, CDS Cottonball White, CDS Billowing Clouds
Accessories:  Fresh Cut Grass Die-namics (MFT), swirl ribbon, Circle & Labels Nestabilities, pink glitter brads, Copics & airbrush

So there you have it!  Be sure to stop by a bit later, because I'll have Day 2 of the CDS Project Parade to show you.  You won't want to miss it :D

No Pinks or Reds

Talk about a challenge!  I was humbled last week when my card was picked over at Raise the Bar, and that meant that this week I would be one of three Guest Bar-tenders over at that fun challenge blog.  Our challenge was to make a Valentine's card without pink or red.  Did you hear that?!  NO PINK OR RED!  I felt stumped, so figured what better way to get it done than to just get to work.  This is actually my second attempt, as my first one actually looked like Easter, haha.

I pulled my Monster Mash set from Clear Dollar Stamps, and this is what I came up with.  Those little monsters make me smile, and my husband actually calls our kids 'little monsters' so they seemed fitting.  I also had these challenges in mind too:
Spoonful of Sugar #138 -- let's see some love
Creative Card Crew -- for a loved one
Stamps:  Monster Mash
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:  TE KI Kit, watercolor
Accessories:  Tombows & waterbrush, chipboard heart, Copic markers BV08 & BG09 with air brush, sticker letters, Circle Nestabilities, dimensionals, purple pen, black embossing powder, white gel pen

Who's that Birthday Girl?

Oh Friday, how I love thee?  Haha, we are heading out in a bit to spend the day at the Civil War Naval Museum here in town.  We have been there before, but it will have so much more meaning now that we are learning about the Civil War.

Card time. . .I made this card for a few challenges.  At first I thought the color combo would be difficult, but now I love it!  I used my Who's that Birthday Girl set from MFT stamps.

Moxie Fab -- Color Combo -- vanilla, yellow, eggplant, teal
Raise the Bar -- Color Combo -- purple, yellow, blue

Stamps:  Who's that Birthday Girl?
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper:  buttercream, So Saffron dp (SU), Perfect Plum dp (SU), Bermuda Bay (SU)

Time to go get ready for the museum.  Sunday the Clear Dollar Stamps sneak peeks start, so come on back. . .you don't want to miss it!

I wish I were there. . .

Go HERE for the Clearly Inspired Challenge post!

I made this card this morning, because I just NEEDED to make a card. I've been stressed, and I won't go into details, but making this was exactly what I needed. I would love to be at the beach right now, and I will be in over a week. I get to meet my bff, Christi, and her family down in Panama City for a little r&r. Sadly, my husband can't come along, but it will be wonderful to see Christi.

I used Beach Bum Cuppie, from Taylored Expressions for this card and it actually qualifies for several challenges. Woohoo for me!

ColourQ #35 -- Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry, Green Galore, Glorious Green, & White
Stampin' for the Weekend #40 -- Summer / Travel Theme
Raise the Bar #21 -- Celebrate Summer
Stamp Simply #142 -- Something Sweet -- Cuppie is as sweet as they come ;)
Pink Elephant #69 -- 'Gotta Wear Shades' -- bright colors

A card for Friday's VSN

I have been wanting to participate in a Virtual Stamp Night ever since I did the last one almost 2 years ago over at Splitcoaststampers. Sadly, I was only able to make one card, but I'm very happy with the way it turned out. The challenge I participated in was the Mae's Joy challenge. We were challenged to make a Joy Fold card with red, bling, and diva worthy. I think mine's diva worthy, because only a diva would bake in a black dress, haha. This also qualifies for the paper piecing challenge over at Wild Flower Patch, and the ink distressing challenge over at Tellen's Place. Over at Raise the Bar the challenge was to use your favorite colors, so I used red ;D
Stamps: Lovin' from the Oven (MFT)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Tea Dye Distress Ink
Paper: Basic Black, Le Creme DCWV, October Afternoon Report Card, Neenah Solar White
Accessories: sponges, Copics, pearls, Xmas Red Stickles, dimensionals

Raising the Bar with a Simon Says Sweet Sketch

My bff, Christi, and I were talking th other day and decided to do a couple of challenges together. As if doing a couple of challenges together weren't enough, we decided to challenge ourselves with of few of our own challenges, haha. The official challenges we joined were the Raise the Bar 'Movie Mania', and the Sweet Sketch Wednesday. This card also qualifies over at the Simon Says challenge blog for 'Movies & dry embossing.' We both have this MFT set called Chick Flick, and we both have the Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety paper. . .so, yup you guessed it. . .our challenges to ourselves were to use the same set and paper without knowing what the other would be creating. We crack each other up! As soon as I'm done posting here, I'm heading over to her blog to see her card. Wouldn't it be hilarious if we came up with the same card, haha?! (I couldn't help it with that chick paper, since I was using that sentiment and that set ;D )
Stamps: Chick Flick (MFT)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Neenah Solar White (CDS), Lime Juice & Bee Pollen (CDS), Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety
Accessories: Copics, Tags Nestabilities, circle cutters, sponges, silver brads, Sweet Pea ribbon (CDS), Spots & Dots embossing folder
