ColourQ #282 -- Thinking of You

I've got a couple of whirlwind posts to share with you today, because I hate to let a card sit when I had planned on posting it.  I fell in love with the color palette over at Colour Q, and I really wanted to make something for it.  I used the Shine Bright stamp & die combo from Taylored Expressions along with the Sheet Music embossing folder.  All of the papers are from various kits.

Taylored Expressions: Fancy Banner 1 with Coordinating Die

Hey there, crafty peeps!  It's getting to be wedding season, and this month's Taylored Expressions release is stuffed full of wedding related products!  One of the stamp sets that was released is called Fancy Banner 1 with Coordinating Die.  As soon as I saw it, I thought it would be brilliant to make place card settings.  Wouldn't these be cute sitting around a table?!  I stamped it out, colored it, then wrote my name in cursive, and used the die.  The place card was made using the Take Your Place die, a new Floral Vine Embossing Folder, and the Flower Box Sprigs and Flowers die.

I'm really going to have to make these for our next dinner party using seasonal colors.  That banner is just perfect for a name!

Documented Life Project Weeks 7-9

Hey everyone!  I told you I would be more intentional about sharing my art journal pages, no matter how bad I may think they are.  I actually happen to like the three I'm going to show you.  Now that all of my design team contracts are up, and I'm a free agent, I plan to focus on some personal growth in the area of art.  I've always loved art. . .everything about it and all facets, so I plan on taking some classes this year.  My husband has given me the green light.  You have to jump on board when the other gives you the green light ;)

These pages today are for the Documented Life Project 2015.  If you haven't heard of it, and are at all interested in art journaling head on over and sign up because it's free!

This first picture is from week 7, where we were challenged to 'Cover Up Good Stuff'.  I felt like I added so much to this page, and ended up covering up some flowers that I had drawn and a few other elements that might actually be poking out if I look close enough.  Trusting the process it a bit hard at times, but you can really up come with some great stuff if you do.  I really love how this page turned out.  It's so vibrant.

Week 8s challenge was 'Repeating Elements', and I had fun doing that with stencils.  Do you see my big purple mess in the middle?  Well, my distress paint blew up in the middle there, but I ended up working with it, and I even made some pretty underpaper with it as well.  I love the quote I found, 'all things are difficult before they are easy'.  I don't know who said it, but it makes perfect sense.  I've only really dabbled in art journaling now for a few weeks, but it just gets easier and even more fun with each page.

This last week, week 9s challenge, was to 'Use at Least Five Layers'.  Because I finished this just a couple of days ago, I can tell you the layers:  Donna Downey Stencil with Dylusions Spray, gesso, tissue & gel medium, acrylic paint, Gelli Plate print cut out and adhered with Gel Medium, painted around with acrylic paint, stamping, stencils with gesso, Stabilo marks, and finally a die cut word.  How's that for using at least five layers?!

These challenges are something I look so forward to every Saturday morning.  I don't always get around to them on Saturdays, but they are definitely a highlight for my week.  Having a creative outlet is vital to me being human, lol.

Taylored Expressions Release Day -- Block Party - Love die

Hey there!  It's Release Day over at Taylored Expressions!  Woohoo!  There is a bunch of amazing things being released today, and in case you haven't seen any of the sneak peeks, you are definitely going to want to head over to Taylor's blog to get caught up.

I'm showing you a couple of new products:  In & Out Wedding stamp set and Block Party - Love die.  Both of these are amazing products, and I've had a blast creating and experimenting.

My card uses several Distress Inks and water to make that background.  I did it all over the main panel using several blues, and then I did it again on a separate small piece of watercolor paper with purples.  I love how it pops, and that technique is so fun.  It always gives a different background.

If you have any weddings to go to, you'll definitely want to get the In & Out Wedding set.  It has a lot of different sentiments for all of those wedding cards :)

ColourQ #281 -- Windy Tree Die

Happy Monday!  I hope y'all are having a wonderful start to your week.  We started off the day with laundry and school, and now I'm listening to my kids practice piano. . .I love it!  

I wanted to show you a card I made with weekend with the ColourQ challenge in mind.  

I matched them as well as I could, but I don't have all of those colors.  I used some products from Taylored Expressions:  Shade Tree Scriptures stamp set, Windy Tree Die, and Build a Scene Rolling Clouds die.  I sponged all of the colors on the base, sprinkled a little water (because some spilled on it and I had to just go with it), and then used the cloud die as a stencil with some white ink.

Color Throwdown: Special Blend

Hi friends!  Oh!  I had some much needed crafting time downstairs for HOURS yesterday!  It was amazing!  I don't feel guilty about it, because my craft space is right out in the open in our downstairs living room, and they whole family was down there enjoying each other's company.  I made some messes in my art journals. . .I'll save those for another day though.  I wanted to show you what I made for the Color Throwdown challenge for this week.

The colors were light pink, pink, green, and kraft, so I pulled out some Taylored Expressions papers along with A Hug in a Mug stamps set.  The background was made using a stencil I have and some spray inks that I made myself.  I just put some water in a small spray bottle, some healthy squirts of paint, Aileen's Glue, and pigment powder, and shook it up.  I'm still learning to use my Inktense pencils, but I do like the look of them.

Sending You Hugs

Happy Wednesday crafty peeps!  I just had a quick card to show you this morning using this month's Studio Calico Kit.  After reviewing it for a few months, I think I won't be renewing after my six month term.  The kit comes with a lot of great stuff, but I think my money would best be spent on other crafty products.  It's a bit expensive for my blood, and I end up not using  a lot of the stuff in the kit.

Anyway, I made this card for our piano teacher, using the Simon Says Anything Goes Challenge.  She will be laid up for a few weeks, and we wanted her to know that we will miss her and we're sending her some hugs.  I used the set in the kit, the ribbon/tape, and a piece of the dp.  I decided I wanted it all to be embossed, which ended up being a lot of fun.

All right, my chores are done, we dissected a worm in the kids' Biology class, dinner is in the crockpot, and I want to go play.  I had been battling a kidney stone, but it passed and now I want to go do some crafting that I couldn't do this whole week.  I hope y'all are having a wonderful week!
